Alfred's Personal Ponderings

• A brief perspective on "family planning" and the blessing of children: "Family Planing".
• For an awesome book giving a Scriptural perspective on leading children to the Savior, see Sir Robert Anderson's "The Entail of the Covenant" Also available in PDF and Word formats. Written in the late 1800s.  (I added a preface)
• The doctrine of "Universalism" - teaching that God will save all men in the end - has been pushed into the spotlight in recent years. Sir Robert Anderson addressed this topic 100 years ago with the book "Human Destiny" which we have posted online - My thoughts on Universalism given as a foreword. Also available in PDF and Word formats.
• The doctrine commonly knows as "Calvinism" - teaching that God could save all men in the end but does not want to - is also widely held. This is a poem expressing my Controversy With Calvin".
• Ever hear the illustration of how a shepherd will break a sheep's leg and then nurse it back to health to engender loyalty and cure it of a tendency to wander off?  Often ridiculed as apocryphal, check out a verified source documenting this very practice in That the Bones Which Thou Hast Broken May Rejoice. • Ancient history: Alfred's paper (1998) on the "Millennium Bug" (Y2K) called Y Art Thou Cast Down?. 

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Romans 6:23 Friend, you and I will soon meet in eternity, if we never meet on this earth. There is a God in heaven who will call into account all of our deeds on that day. He will not overlook or forget one sin - If you do not know Him as your heavenly Father, through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, you will face certain judgment for all eternity. If you make sure of nothing else in this life, make sure of eternity.

There is an older video of us singing "Count the Cost" [the venue was a "Music Night" with fellow home schoolers.  This searching song was written by a young lady, Deborah Marshall (later Wells), of the singing John Marshall Family, who later left comforts and family to be a missionary in New Guinea] . . . the file is quite large [19MB] so prepare to be patient if you click.  Audio only of the family singing "Saved by Grace".  We are absolutely not professionals!  But we do very  much enjoy singing as a family.
